    StarTie  

    Special purpose tie for securing a new leaf to, or extending, an existing wall.

    Applications:
    Where a new inner or outer skin is added to an existing wall; a new party wall is being constructed; a section of damaged wall is being taken down and reinstated; an existing solid or cavity wall is being extended.

    Features:

    • one-piece grade 304 or 316 stainless steel tie
    • effective in brick, blocks, concrete, stone and traditional regional materials
    • great axial strength resists all wind loads
    • multiple drip points prevent transfer of water across cavity
    • designed for use with or without insulation

    Installation
    Drill 6mm pilot hole in existing wall
    (not required in low density block)
    Line up tie with pilot hole, resting support
    tool on new leaf.
    Drive in tie with hammer or SDS drill.
    (With new party walls the tie is installed
    at an angle and bent to lay in new
    mortar bed)

    Outer end of tie embedded in mortar of
    new masonry leaf
    Typical Applications  
    (A) Addition of new party wall.
    The tie is usually installed at an angle into the existing wall and
    bent to lay along the mortar bed of the new wall.
    One end of the tie can be sleeved to create a movement joint.




    (B) Extension of existing wall.
    Ties are installed horizontally into either the mortar beds or
    brickwork of the existing wall and bedded into the mortar on
    the new wall.
